The story of Ginger House Coffee began in late 2002 when entrepreneur Joanne “Jo” Weaver purchased a modest café at 4860 East Main Street in Berlin, transforming it into Java Jo Coffee Bar – one of the first specialty coffee shops in the heart of Ohio’s Amish Country. At a time when the region had no big-chain coffeehouses, the café quickly became a local favorite rooted in quality and community. In 2020, Ginger House Coffee quietly entered a new era with a change in ownership that was never publicly announced, allowing its beloved reputation to continue uninterrupted while thoughtful improvements happened behind the scenes. This subtle transition honored the shop’s roots while elevating the overall experience, keeping the focus where it belongs: the coffee, the food, and the people behind it.
